The THC Myth
Many consumers believe that higher THC percentage automatically means a better product. This is one of the most common misconceptions in cannabis. Let's break down what THC percentages actually tell you — and what they don't.
What THC Percentage Measures
THC percentage indicates the concentration of tetrahydrocannabinol in a cannabis product. For flower, this typically ranges from 15% to 30%. However, this number only tells part of the story.
The Entourage Effect
Cannabis contains hundreds of compounds including other cannabinoids (CBD, CBN, CBG) and terpenes. These work together in what researchers call the "entourage effect." A strain with 18% THC and a rich terpene profile may produce a more enjoyable experience than a 30% THC strain with minimal terpenes.
Choosing the Right Product
Instead of chasing the highest number, consider what experience you want. For relaxation, look for strains high in myrcene and linalool. For energy, seek out limonene and pinene-dominant strains. The terpene profile matters more than the THC number on the label.
